As I grew up, I watched people rushing towards unknown destinations, not really sure what they were chasing. They seemed to be just following the crowd, getting lost in the hurry. When I was a teenager, I didn't want to become an adult. I used to pray, "Please, don't make me grown up. Being an adult doesn't seem full of life. They look like bodies without spirit, just trying to survive."
I often wondered why they weren't going after their true dreams. Why did they keep complaining about things they didn't even try hard to get? I wanted to be different from them. I wanted to work not just to get by, but to enjoy and feel fulfilled. I kept thinking, why were they so scared of failing? After all, what's the worst that could happen if they failed? Probably not much, right?
Now that I'm in a similar phase of life, I understand why they were afraid to take risks. I get why they were so worried about failing. I also see why they gave in to the pressure of the crowd. But I also know something important that many forget: the power of choice.
Every person has the ability to decide their own path, to create their own story. They have the freedom to take control, but fear of failing holds them back. This fear stops them from taking charge of their future, from taking their own responsibilities. Doubting themselves and thinking they're not worth much, they are settle for being in the background. They let themselves get carried away by what everyone else is doing, thinking it's the normal things to do.
What's ironic is that while they can choose, they find it scary to go their own way. The idea of making decisions on their own, shaping their life as they want, they see this as big pressure. seems too hard. right? So, they join the crowd to avoid the pressure of making choices, shaping their future. They accept this fate, thinking it's what everyone else is doing. But in doing that, they don't realize how much potential they have to shape their own lives.
Now, I'm at a point where I can either go along with what everyone else is doing or go on a journey to discover who I am and what I want. I know it's tempting to stick with what's comfortable and familiar. But I also know that I'm not here to just watch life pass by. I'm here to create my own story, to be the one who decides what happens. I'm the writer and the main character in my own unique tale.
Till the next time,
Rifat
